Delph Communications BATESVILLE, Ark. (April 10) - Batesville, Arkansas native Billy Moyer is on the biggest roll of his illustrious Dirt Late Model career, as the Hall of Famer picked up his ninth victory of the young 2008 racing season over the weekend at the Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois! Billy set a new track record at the fairgrounds oval on Friday night, April 4, as he toured the bullring in a mere 11.973 seconds in qualifying. A heat race win later in the night assured "Mr. Smooth" of a top-six starting spot in the inaugural 'Illini 100' feature event on Saturday.
When the action resumed at Farmer City on Saturday, Billy drew a number three prior to the start of the $20,000 to win World of Outlaws Late Model Series-sanctioned A-Main. After rolling off from the inside of the second row for the 100-lap affair, Billy raced all over the top five before making a bid for the win late in the race. He passed Chub Frank and Steve Francis to get to the second spot before tracking down leader Shannon Babb. Billy briefly took the lead on lap 85 before finally overtaking Babb for good on lap 99. He was able to hold off Babb, who started at the rear of the field, Steve Francis, Tim McCreadie, and Wes Steidinger to record the exciting $20,000 payday! "Everything is just going awesome right now and we are going to ride this streak as long as we can," commented Moyer following his Farmer City victory. "That 18 car (Shannon Babb) is always strong at Farmer City, so when you can pass him for the win, you have really done something. I really can't say enough about everyone from Victory Circle racecars, Clements Engines, and everybody associated with this race team. Hopefully, we can keep this thing going as we head east to Virginia, Lernerville, and Charlotte!"
The Billy Moyer Racing team is currently heading east to compete in a trio of World of Outlaws Late Model Series events over the next 10 days. Billy brings the WOOLMS point lead into the Virginia Motor Speedway in Saluda, Virginia this Friday night, April 11 for a $10,000 to win series event. The action will then turn to the venerable Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, April 15 for another $10,000 to win show. The east coast trip for the #21 team will culminate with the annual running of the 'Colossal 100' at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina on April 18-19. The festivities at the Charlotte-area oval will be highlighted by a 100-lap feature event on Saturday, April 19, which will pay $50,000 to the winner!
