Jeremy Miller Racing GETTYBURG, Penn. (April 10) - Jeremy Miller already has two dirt Late Model starts under his belt this season, but those races were mere tune-ups for his first big-show swing of 2008 coming up this weekend.
"As far as I'm concerned, my season hasn't even started yet," said Miller, who suffered misfortune in his recent runs on March 21 at Maryland's Potomac Speedway (finished 19th due to suspension woes) and March 28 at Pennsylvania's Williams Grove Speedway (20th thanks to a fuel-system problem). "This weekend is when we really get going."
Indeed, the 36-year-old driver from Gettysburg, Pa., and his Buckler Motorsports team will be very busy over the next week. His schedule kicks off on Friday night (April 11) with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series 'Rumble on the River IV' at Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, Va., then continues with the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS) season opener on Saturday night (April 12) at The Rock/Allegany County Speedway in Cumberland, Md.; the WoO LMS 'Showdown in Sarvertown' on Tues., April 15, at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa.; and the third annual Circle K Colossal 100 on April 18-19 at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C.
Miller had also planned to enter a MACS event on Sunday (April 13) at Hesston (Pa.) Speedway, but track and MACS officials announced on Wednesday that the program has been postponed until Sun., May 11.
Coming off a frustrating, bad-luck 2007 campaign, Miller feels good about his chances of returning to winning form. He has combined with car owners Charlie and Jenny Buckler to put together an ambitious regional schedule of nearly 60 events that includes starts with the WoO LMS, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, MACS and the Independent Racing Series (IRS) as well as a host of special unsanctioned shows.
"We spent the off-season trying to get prepared for all the racing we're planning to do," said Miller, who led the Northeast in dirt Late Model feature wins in both 2004 and 2006. "I feel like the equipment we have ready to go is the best we've ever started the year out with."
Miller has two new Rocket cars set for action, including one equipped with a brand-new Bullock Race Engine that he plans to make his primary machine for the upcoming week of action.
"We put a lot of hard work into the cars this winter," said Miller. "We're just trying to improve like everybody else, and I'm anxious to get out there and see how everything works out."
Miller is especially upbeat about Friday's WoO LMS show at Virginia Motor Speedway, a half-mile oval where he's enjoyed a fair share of success in recent years. In fact, in 2003 he scored the first $10,000 victory of his dirt Late Model career at VMS.
"For some reason that place has always suited me," Miller said of Virginia Motor, where he led last July's WoO LMS event before succumbing to mechanical trouble. "I always seem to run decent there, so that's a big reason why I'm excited about the Outlaw show there."
Miller's Buckler Motorsports cars carry sponsorship from Complete Flooring, USA Spares, Inc., Rocket Chassis, Bullock Race Engines, Miller Fabrication Inc., Torco Race Fuels and Genesis Racing Shocks. He uses American Racer tires on his No. 24 machines.
