RICHMOND, Ind. (April 9) - In a weekend that saw the team go to 3 tracks they had never competed at Casebolt Racing stayed consistent and left the weekend 3rd in points. On night one of "The March through Dixie" at Swainsboro Raceway the team advanced from 16th to 8th in the feature on the tight ¼ mile oval.

"Swainsboro turned out to be a nice little track that stayed racey and competitive all night long," said Steve. "We had trouble early in the night, had to advance from a consolation race and advanced 8 spots and earned a top ten". Steve had actually worked his way up towards the front of the feature early on in the event but a soft tire choice caused Steve to loose a few positions in the final laps.

The following night saw the team travel southeast to another ¼ mile bullring called Screven Speedway. The 13th place feature finish proved to be the worst of the 3 day swing. "At Screven a piece of the body bracing (right front spring steel) broke free from the car and became trapped in the right front wheel and suspension causing major handling problems." Steve dropped from 7th to 13th in the final 25 laps. "We should have pitted to fix the problem but we didn't and ended up with a poor finish after having a fast car for the early portion of the race."

On Sunday the team traveled to Brunswick, GA for the tour's grand finale where Steve picked up a 3rd place finish in front of the SPEED Channel cameras. Steve started 3rd in the feature and pressured hall of fame racer Scott Bloomquist for the lead for most of the later stages of the race. "After the last restart we were a little better than Scott on the bottom". "I showed him my nose one time and he knew I was there". "After he saw me he began to run the same line I was running, which in turn slowed us both down". With the duo involved in a battle for the lead on the bottom of the lighting fast speedway Earl Pearson moved to the top of the race track and surprised both Bloomquist and Casebolt with a last lap pass. "I was a little disappointed in the outcome of the race considering I felt we had a car to win, but to be competitive with guys like Scott and Earl at a track they are both very familiar with, and I had never been to before was an accomplishment in itself", said Steve after the feature.

Steve and company will travel to KC Raceway in Alma, OH on Saturday April 12th for another televised Lucas Oil Series event. The team may decide to travel to Attica Raceway in Attica, OH on Friday for an ALMS series race if all goes well at the shop this week and the weather looks favorable. Keep an eye on the tour page of the team website for a schedule update late in the week.
