LOUDONVILLE, Ohio (April 7) - With the 2008 Ohio dirt racing season set to commence this weekend dirt Late Model driver and defending Hilltop Speedway Super Late Model champion George 'The General' Lee of Loudonville, OH is looking forward to kicking off his 2008 season this coming weekend April 11 at Hilltop Speedway's season opener. Lee will attend opening night at the Millersburg, H dirt track driving his Rocket Chassis/Malcuit Racing Engines #21 sponsored by Maibach Ford of Orrville, OH, Valvoline Oil, Bishop Collision Repair Center, American Payroll Advance, Cowen Truck Lines, Hague Crystal Clear Water, Mason Racin', Bert Transmission, Hoosier Racing Tire & Reliable Mold.

"I really am happy that I won the points last year at Hilltop Speedway," stated Lee. "We have never worried about the points in the past. Seems like when we did, we would fall on our butts and fall back towards the end of the season, so I went into last year with the attitude that we were just going to win and 2007 became a year for records for Team GLR. Our first track championship since starting racing Late Models in '94, most wins ever in a year is another."

"Not only myself, but the whole team is looking forward to getting the 2008 season started and what better way to kick it off than to race at Hilltop? We won opening night down there last year and I hope we can duplicate that this Friday night."

Lee and his potent Team GLR will, at this time, run a tentative schedule looking for bigger paying races within the Buckeye state. At this point in time we really don't have a set schedule in mind for '08, we are just going to look at the 3-4 hour window of traveling to races around us and see what works with all of our work schedules."

Team GLR will tentatively compete at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH Saturday night April 12.

A new Rocket Chassis will also be among the arsenal at Lee's disposal this season. "After our bad crash at Hilltop last October, we lost a race car," said Lee. "We were not planning on having to build another car, but the guys in the shop have worked their butts off putting together a new Rocket Chassis. Things are getting close to being finished. In fact, we spent this past weekend putting the new graphics on the car."

In the coming weeks Team GLR will announce various upcoming radio appearances by 'The General'.

Team GLR still has merchandise available. "We still have some 2007 Team GLR racing shirts left as well as hoodie sweatshirts," said Lee. "You can contact me via my website www.georgeleeracing.com to purchase yours or see us at any race track we're at."

Lee's championship crew consists of Jeff (Root) Long, Dave Hazelet, Kerrissa Darr, Mark & Ed Hagen, Sherri Lee and Ben Huff.
