BYRAM, Miss. (April 7) - After losing the season opener to rain last Saturday night, Jackson Motor Speedway will try again to get the season underway this Saturday, April 12th with a Weekly Racing Series Event.

Last Saturday, the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series Super Late Models were scheduled to be in action at JMS, however, heavy rains nixed the program.

This Saturday, April 12th JMS will once again attempt to get their season underway with a Weekly Racing Series Event. The event will be headlined by the Extreme Wireless Super Late Models battling in a 20 lap, $1,500 to win event. Also in action on the program will be The Home Improvement Company Limited Late Models, Franklin Paving UMP Modifieds, Trick Race & Hawkins Machine Shop Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, and Touch of Class Body Shop Stingers.

Grandstand general admission for the event is $12 for adults, $6 for children (7-12 years of age), $6 for seniors (65 and older), and children 6 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult. Pit admission for adults is $25, $15 for children (7-12 years of age), seniors (65 years of age and older) are $15, and children 6 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult.

Pit gates open at 4 pm with the grandstand area opening at 5 pm. Driver's meeting will be at 6 pm with hotlaps at 6:15 pm and heat races at 7 pm.

The off-season has been a very busy time at Jackson Motor Speedway with veteran racer, Don Cliburn, taking over the ownership role of the ¼ mile, dirt oval. Since assuming the reigns, Cliburn and his staff have made several major improvements to the central Mississippi oval with several more in store. Some of the improvements already completed include a complete remodel of the concessions, bathrooms, and backstretch and pit side bleachers. Asphalt walkways have been installed from the entrance gates to the bleachers to more comfortably accommodate the spectators at JMS. The announcer/scorer's tower has been completely redone and a brand new scoreboard has been installed. With all of these improvements already completed and several more on the way, the future at Jackson Motor Speedway is looking bigger and brighter than ever.

Make sure to mark your special events calendar as the MSCCS Super Late Models once again invade Jackson Motor Speedway on Saturday, April 26th for a $2,500 to win event. Also, on May 17th, the winged warriors of the ASCS Sprint Car Series invade JMS.
