Burton Services SMITHFIELD, Va. (April 3) - On March 28th the Brent Robinson Inc. (BRI) race team made the haul south to Dublin Speedway, for a $2,000 to win show, just the team's second race of the 2008 season. The night started off with Brent posting an excellent qualifying lap good enough to seize the pole for the 30 lap feature event. The team would be solid in the feature battling inside the top 5 all night and coming home with a strong 3rd place finish. The following night the team watched the weather all morning finally deciding to travel west to 311 Speedway in Madison, NC for twin $2500 to win 25 lap features. The night would start off with Brent posting a decent 11th place qualifying effort placing him inside of row 6 for the first 25 lap feature. Brent would be strong battling all the way up to the 7th position before the checkered flag fell. A number 6 pill was drawn to invert 6 for the second feature missing them by one spot meaning Brent would start inside of row 4 for the second feature event. The car was once again great as Brent would climb up to the 5th position before the end of the event capping a solid weekend for the team with two top 5 finishes.
"It was definitely a great weekend for us overall. It's always good to start off a season with good solid finishes while getting all of the bugs worked out of the cars. At Dublin, the car was bad fast but the track got a little slicker than we had anticipated and the car kind of went away as the race went on. At 311, we just missed in qualifying by a little bit and that got us behind all night and then we missed the invert by one spot so we almost caught a break but not quite. I kept telling my Dad all weekend though that something was just not right, the car seemed really good, but something just wasn't right with the front end and when we got home and I went through the checklist this week one of the bearings was completely locked up. The car ran really good like that so I can't wait to see what it'll do now!" stated Brent Robinson via telephone from his house in Smithfield, VA.
This weekend the team's plans are still up in the air as they watch the weather forecast. The team will most likely be in action April 4th at Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, GA for a $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Show, and the following night at Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, GA for a $10,000 win Lucas Oil show to be taped by SPEED channel. If the weather does look too bad though the team will stay closer to home and go to Dublin Speedway for a $2,000 to win show and Fayetteville Motor Speedway for a $2,500 to win show.
