Several new sponsors have signed on for the 2008 season with Best Buy, KRNQ Radio and the Pepsi Inside Track Radio Show and Tim's Machine Shop being the latest to sign on along with Advance Trading announcing a special Modified event..
Tim's Machine Shop has stepped up to the plate to title sponsor the Hobby Stocks for the 2008 season by providing a $1000 point fund. The Hobby Stocks, formerly known as the bombers have been without a title sponsor and point fund for over a decade as Tim Uppinghouse, owner and operator of Tim's Machine Shop, felt that it was the right time to help the fledgling Hobby Stock division with sponsorship and a point fund.
Advance Trading, a commodities marketing company in Quincy has announced the sponsorship of a special event as well as the weekly Advance Trading Modified Trophy Dash. The first annual Advance Trading Modified River City Rumble will be a $1000 to Win event for the top twelve in track points in the Miller Lite Modifieds after the June 29 events. The race will be ran in addition to the regular race night on July 6th featuring a 30 lap event with two fifteen lap segments including an eight to ten minute pit stop between the segments. The first segment will be lined up by inverted track point standings with the number one in points starting in the twelve spot and the twelveth placed points driver starting on the pole. The second segment will feature the top ten finishers in the first segment restarting the event from a Frisbee drawing on the front stretch. The eleventh and twelfth placed finishing drivers will retire to the pits after the first segment with a $50 pay check. The River City Rumble winner will take home a check for a whopping $1000 with $750, 400, 300, 200, 175, 150, 125, 100 and 100 going to the rest of the top 10.
KRNQ Radio and the Pepsi Inside Track Radio Program will now be the title sponsor of the UMP Summer Nationals on July 8. The UMP Summer Nationals Series for UMP Late Models is sometimes call the "Hell Tour" as the competitors on the tour will compete in 27 events in 31 days for events that pay a minimum of $6000 to win and as much as $20,000 to win. The Summer Nationals Series is considered to be one of the Premier Late Model Series in the country as some of the biggest stars of dirt late model racing compete. Quincy Raceways 2008 race season gets underway on Sunday, April 6 featuring the Budweiser IMCA J&J Steel Late Models, Miller Lite Modifieds, Triple R Performance Engines IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and the Tim's Machine Shop Hobby Stocks. The point season for the IMCA J&J Steel Late Models, Miller Lite Modifieds, and the Tim's Machine Shop Hobby Stocks start on Sunday, April 27 while The Triple R IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars point season starts on April 6 as the new class of race cars compete in Illinois for the first time since 1987 when the class last competed at Peoria and Jacksonville. The Triple R Performance Engines IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars race for National, Jet Racing Northern Region, Smiley's Racing Products State and local track points. The National and Regional Points Champion very well could come from the three track circuit in this area which is formed by Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Ia., 34 Raceway in Burlington, Ia., and Quincy Raceways. The Smiley's Racing Products Illinois State Champion will be crowned from one of the competitors at Quincy Raceways as Quincy is the only track in the state for the IMCA Stock Cars. There will be some very significant money and product prizes on the line for the drivers competing for the point standings.
The pit gates open for the first two nights of racing action at 3:00pm on April 6 and April 13 to help with Driver Registration and paperwork. The grandstands and pit gates open at 4, Registration ends at 5:30, Drivers Meeting at 5:45, Hot Laps at 6 and racing at 6:30pm on regular Sunday night race nights. Ticket prices will remain the same for the 2008 Sunday night racing season at Quincy Raceways with an addition of a new money saving Family Ticket that will cost $25 for a family of two adults, two teens(11-15) and two children(6-10) which would cost $30 if purchased separately. Adult(16 and over) tickets will be $10, Teens(11-15) $4 and Kids(6-10) $1, Senior Citizen tickets(65+) are $7.

Quincy Herald Whig Starts New Quincy Raceway Blog
The Quincy Herald Whig daily newspaper has announced a new Blog called "Stevie Dirt", a dirt-track racing blog that went live late Tuesday afternoon and should provide an excellent forum for local race fans. Late Models, Modifieds, Hobby Stocks and IMCA stock cars will be the main topics of interest that will feature rankings, reader polls, inside information and general discussions.
The blog will run Monday through Friday and can be found at www.whig.com, click on "blogs" and go to "Stevie Dirt" at the bottom left of the page. "Stevie Dirt" (writer Steve Eighinger) said today's blog will remain up through Sunday, with the regular schedule of blogs beginning Monday.
"This is an exciting time of the year for dirt-track fans," Eighinger said. "It's the start of a new season and we think this will provide an excellent opportunity for added racing coverage, plus providing a place for local fans to talk about their favorite sport. "As Darrell Waltrip says, 'Let's go racin', boys!!"
