TEXARKANA, Tex. (April 1) - The 2007 AMP Late Model Series Points Champion Jon "Catman" Mitchell has started off the 2008 season on a bit of a rocky start, but managed to pull together a Top 10 finish at this past weekend's AMP Late Model Series show at Monticello Speedway in Monticello, Arkansas.
Mitchell Started on the outside pole of his heat race, and fought a ill handling car while managing to be able to finish Third behind Jody Prince, and Dusty Johnston.
In the Feature race, Jon started in the Seventh position, lined up beside "Kid Smooth" Billy Moyer Jr. These two, along with Kyle Beard, Jeff Wells, and Jon Kirby would battle it out all night, with Mitchell picking up the Seventh place finish.
"We worked all week trying to get our car put back together from last week. Right there towards the end of the feature, we started coming around a little bit, and found a groove that worked for us. Last year we got around here real good, but they have changed the track up a bit since then, and we've been running an open motor earlier in the year, and went with a spec motor tonight, so the handling was a bit off. Bottom line is we just have to get better." Stated Mitchell following the race.
