FLIPPIN, Ark. (March 31) - After losing the first several attempts to get the season underway to Mother Nature, Dusty Johnston finally competed in his first event of 2008 over the weekend.
Johnston was in action at Monticello Speedway in Monticello, Arkansas with the AMP Super Late Model Series. Dusty started 5th in his heat and charged to a second place finish, which earned him the second starting position for the feature event. At the drop of the green flag in the feature, he assumed control of the top spot and held the lead for the first eight laps, before being passed by eventual race winner, Jeff Chandler. Johnston went on to finish 2nd.
Overall, Johnston was extremely excited about the team's performance in the first race of the year and is looking forward to the upcoming weekend double header behind the wheel of his #16 GRT By Frye/Kuntz & Co. Racing Engine Super Late Model.
On Friday night, Dusty will travel to Beebe Speedway in Beebe, Arkansas for a $1,500 to win event with the AMP Super Late Model Series. For more information on the event, please visit www.AMPSeries.com .
On Saturday night, the action will shift southwest to I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas for the 2008 season opener for the O'Reilly MSRA Super Late Model Series. The event will pay $2,000 to win. Johnston finished 3rd in the O'Reilly MSRA point standings in 2007 and will be looking to claim the title in 2008.
