Delph Communications BATESVILLE, Ark. (March 19) - Billy Moyer and his #21 team trekked to the Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert City, Kentucky from March 13-15 for the inaugural running of 'March Madness.' Two of the three scheduled events were put into the record book over the weekend, as the $10,000 to win finale on Saturday, March 15 was won by Mother Nature.
The driver known as "Mr. Smooth" notched his seventh win of the 2008 racing season on Friday night, March 14 by taking the $5,000 victory in night two of 'March Madness.' Billy was second fastest in his group during UMP DIRTcar Series qualifying and later won his heat race to earn the outside pole position for the 40-lap A-Main. The Batesville, Arkansas native then found himself out front throughout the running of the caution-plagued race and took the checkers in front of Michael England, Dennis Erb, David Scott, and Wendell Wallace.
A night earlier, Billy also started on the front row of Thursday's $5,000 to win 'March Madness' event at KLMS. After taking quick time honors for the evening in qualifying, Billy won his heat race and rolled off from the pole position for the 40-lap A-Main. Aboard his Banner Valley Hauling / J&J Steel / Karl Chevrolet / Minx Show Palace / Universal Concrete / Car City / Watters Autoland #21 Victory Circle by Moyer M1 / Clements entry, Billy battled up front throughout the course of the race before eventually winding up in the sixth position. "It was good to rebound on Friday with a win after a little bit of a disappointing night on Thursday," quoted Moyer this week. "We are still learning on this car each and every night we race, so it was good to make the right adjustments to get in into victory lane again. Our year so far has been phenomenal and hopefully it continues throughout the rest of 2008!"
The Billy Moyer Racing team was scheduled to enter Saturday night's $2,500 to win O'Reilly SUPR Series show at the nearby Batesville Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas on March 22. However, torrential thunderstorms in the area have already cancelled the event, so Billy is now leaning towards taking the weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition. His next event will tentatively be the $20,000 to win 'March Through Dixie 100' at the Pike County (MS) Speedway on March 28-29.
