CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (March 15) - The short version of the events at Central Arizona Raceway on Saturday night was that Lonnie Parker, Jr. once again pulled his Parker Concrete/J&J Motorsports/Russell Baker Racing Engines/GRT into victory lane. It was anything but easy has he waged a race long war with the Total Seal Piston Rings/GRT of Joey Moriarty for the runner-up spot as the duo tried to track down the Bob Small Racing/Country Gardens Nursery/GRT of race long leader Mike Tahtinen.

Parker, Jr began to find his stride halfway through the 20 lapper, finally able to dispatch of the Moriarty on lap 10 after battling side by side for the runner-up spot. Tahtinen was in control from the drop of the green, opening as much as a half-straightway lead on the runner up duo. Cautions for incidents on laps eight and eleven did little to quell Tahtinen's momentum, as each time he able to re-open a sizable lead on the Delaware double-file restart.

With less then five to go, Tahtinen began to encounter the back of the field allowing Parker, Jr to erase his lead. As Tahtinen ran the high side, Parker, Jr began to work in the low line, searching for a way past the races only leader. Parker, Jr. made his move with two to go as Tahtinen slipped in turn one, allowing Parker, Jr. to pull even in two and carry the momentum down the backstretch and into the lead as the white flag flew.

Once out front, Tahtinen had nothing for the new leader, as Parker, Jr. cruised for the final 3/8th mile tour around the desert oval to pick-up the win.
