Michael Despain JUNCTION CITY, Ky (March 13) - Ponderosa Speedway track promoters Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz are set to present a weekend doubleheader at "Kentucky's Baddest Bullring" on Friday April 4 and Saturday April 5.
On Friday April 4, the Spring 30 will take place for the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, with $1,500 up for grabs to the winner of the 30 lap Super Late Model main event. Also as part of the evening's program, the Super Late Model division will have a Quick Six Dash that will pay $100 to the winner courtesy of Clayton Homes. Clayton Homes will also pay $50 the driver in the Super Late Model division that advances the most positions in the Spring 30 A-Main. The winner of the Spring 30 will be guaranteed a starting position in the Chris Estes/Brad Pena Memorial event the next evening. Joining the Super Late Models for this event will be the Hardee's Modified division, racing 25 laps for $800 to win in their main event. The Kentucky National Guard Pro Late Models will also be in action, racing 20 laps for $500 to win and the SkyTower Power Race Engines Sportsman will be in competition as well, racing 20 laps for $400 to win in their feature event. The winners of the Modified, Pro Late Model, and Sportsman feature events will also be guaranteed starting spots in the feature events for their respective divisions the following evening as well.
On Saturday April 5, the 1st Annual Chris Estes/Brad Pena Memorial event presented by Estes Race Engines and Stephens Motorsports will be contested, with the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model division racing 40 laps for $4,000 to win. As part of the activities on April 5, the Super Late Model division will be compete in a $200 to win Quick Six Dash presented by Dyer's Top Rods and Clayton Homes will award $100 to Hard Charger in the Chris Estes/Brad Pena Memorial A-Main event. Also as part of this event, the Hardee's Modified A-Main will be 30 laps, with $1,000 going to the feature winner, while the Kentucky National Guard Pro Late Models will race 25 laps for $600 to win, with the SkyTower Power Race Engines Sportsman racing 20 laps for $500 to win. There will also be an autograph session on Saturday afternoon 45 minutes prior to the driver's meeting that will feature drivers from all four divisions signing autographs and greeting the race fans.
Ponderosa Speedway will have an open practice on Friday March 21, with the 2008 racing season set to begin on Friday evening, March 28, featuring the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Hardee's Modifieds, Kentucky National Guard Pro Late Models, and SkyTower Power Race Engines all in action. The points chase for the track championships in all four divisions will begin with the racing events scheduled for Friday April 4, with double track points up for grabs on Saturday April 5.
