ARCHDALE, N.C. Earl recuperating from a violent crash during speedweeks at Volusia Speedway Park, has spent the past several weeks working with team owner Bobby Labonte on implementing several safety devices and equipment to their cars. Bobby Labonte has taken the steps to hopefully increase the safety awareness in the dirt late model industry by meeting with Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and World of Outlaws Late Model Series officials and Brian Butler of Butlerbuilt Seats at his shops in Archdale, NC. "We really know a lot of things we can do right now to improve the safety aspects of these cars and also use some of the technology from NASCAR to better improve the safety side of these dirt late models," stated team owner Bobby Labonte. "Before we leave for our next event, we'll have made significant changes to our cars to enhance the safety for Earl when he is racing." The changes include the addition of an on-board fire extinguisher, added padding to roll bars, additional seat support and advances in the head and neck area including the use of a Head and Neck System device (HANS ) among other changes.

"I want to thank all the fans, drivers, sponsors, track promoters, car owners and everyone that sent an email or left me a voice mail concerned about me during the past several weeks. I also want to thank the safety crew at the track for taking extra caution with me and doing their job. It means a lot to know so many people took the time to check on me while I was healing. I really appreciate all the well wishes during this time. I'm 100% healed and ready to get back in the car and sling some dirt with the guys again. My crew has been working hard on getting our cars ready and hopefully we can get back to winning this weekend", stated Earl.

In case this weekend's events get canceled due to weather, Earl and the team will travel to Bulls Gap Tennessee and compete at the Volunteer Speedway in a pair of $10,000 to win super late model feature events on Friday and Saturday March 14-15th.
