EASTABOGA, Ala. (March 9) - Red Farmer took the 2008 season-opening win at Talladega Short Track on a beautiful Sunday March afternoon. Farmer bested a twenty-seven car field for the win in the NeSmith weekly racing series Late Model event.

One-Hundred-Sixty-Three (163) total entrants were on hand, setting a new season opener record car count.

Following Farmer was Adam Martin in second, Chad Wallace third, Steve Kirk in fourth and Lee Burdette rounded out the top five. Thirty-Six Super Late Models were on hand Sunday with James Cline picking up the win over Terry Smith in second and Ross Martin third.

Jackson Hale won the twenty-lap Sportsman feature event followed by Jonathan Chapman second and Dennis Collins third. Michael Strickland picked up the win in the IMCA Modified feature event over Scottie Hiett in the second position and Eric Smith in third.

A special appearance by the slingshots saw Shawn Carter in victory lane over Sam Williams in second and Aaron Scott third. Tony Miles picked up the Thundercar feature event win with Scott Magouirk finishing in the runner-up spot and Al Reynolds in the third spot.

Harry Stanley bested a twenty-six car Street Stock field to take the checkers over Phillip Haynes in second and Ronny Martin third. Richard Morrow took the final checkers of the night winning the Hot Shot feature event.

Talladega Short Track resumes the 2008 weekly racing season this Saturday Night in all seven exciting divisions, with gates opening at 4PM and racing at 7PM.
