BARDSTOWN, Ky. (March 7) - Bluegrass Speedway track promoters David and Anita Ferrell are pleased to announce an exciting and historic event that will take place at the ½ mile Nelson County clay oval on Saturday August 2.

The 6th Annual My Old Kentucky Home Shootout event will see the O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Model division and the Independent Racing Series co-sanction what should be an exciting evening of dirt track sports entertainment. Larry Yantz, who serves as race director for the Super Late Model division of the O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series and Independent Racing Series race director Dean Miracle have agreed to have both sanctioning bodies govern this August 2 event.

The race will be 50 laps in distance and pay the winner $5,000 for their evening's work. The event will see the fan-friendly Independent Racing Series race format utilized, while the competitors will be in action using the tire rule of the O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Model division. The event is scheduled to start at least 24 entries, with two series provisionals available to both sanctioning groups regular series travelers.

The Louisville, Kentucky-based O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Model division will begin its 7th season of competition in 2008 and Victor Lee of Stanford, KY is the defending series champion.
