CHATSWORTH, Ga. (March 6) - The North Georgia Speedway opener, the Ernest Young Memorial, has been postponed due to weather. The Southern All Star sanctioned event will be run on Friday March 14.

"You can't do anything about the weather except plan around it. The cold and wet weather forecast for this Friday and Saturday has put Ernest Young Memorial on hold until Friday, March 14," said North Georgia promoter Monty Morrow. "We will run it conjunction with the Shamrock at Cleveland Speedway, which will give the racers and fans back to back big races to kick off the season."

Although nobody likes to see their plans turned upside down the weather postponing the season opener will have some advantages. The racers now have two chances in two days to race for special events purses plus there will a $2,500 bonus from Car Smart of Cleveland if a driver wins both events. If no one wins both Car Smart will pay $500 to the high point man in the two events.

"If a driver has a good weekend and wins both events he will win $15,000 and that's a good pay day in anyone's book. You know that will bring the cars out and there will be some good hard racing," concluded Morrow.

The Ernest Young Memorial will be supported with racing in the Limited/Crate/Sportsman, Mini Stock and Econo Bombers. Pit gates will open at 2 pm, grandstands 3 pm with racing at 6 pm. Adults are $17 in the grandstands with kids 6-11 $3 and under six are free. Pit passes will be $30.
