Dave Seay JAMAICA, Va. (March 3) - With the much anticipated 2008 season just a month away Bill Sawyer's Virginia Motor Speedway will hold two pre-season practices for all divisions that will compete during the 2008 season.
"With the new track surface we felt it important to give our weekly racers and any of the regional and touring racers the chance to dial in the new surface," commented Track General Manager Clarke Sawyer.
The two open practices will be held on Saturday, March 15th and Saturday, March 22nd from 9am till 5pm. The practices will be open to all the Speedway's weekly competitors as well as super late model and big block drivers. On March 15th the track will also be available to any 410 sprint car competitors that would like to test for the upcoming Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event to be held Saturday, May 24th.
"These two practices are a great opportunity for the regional racers to get some time on the track in preparation of our big events," added Sawyer.
All cars must be inspected before they will be allowed to practice. All weekly racing competitors must also be registered before they will be allowed to practice.
Driver registrations have been coming in at a record pace and Speedway officials expect a banner year for the ½ mile, high-banked clay oval speed plant. Registrations are currently being accepted and all numbers are first come, first served. Competitors can obtain all the necessary 2008 registration forms by going to the tracks website or by calling the speedway Monday through Friday 10am through 3pm at (804) 758-1867.
