Bill Roth PADUCAH, Ky. (March 3) - After releasing the 2008 Special Events Calendar earlier this season, PIR Officials are now adding details on many of the events being held this year at the twin dirt ovals.
A 30-event schedule is planned for 2008. Exciting Friday night racing begins March 28 and continues every Friday through September 19! Before actual competition begins, PIR will be open for practice sessions from 12 to 4 PM on Saturdays, March 8th and 22nd. These practice runs will be staged for all cars planning to compete at PIR this year.
The season will officially begin Friday evening, March 28, with the appearance of two major NASCAR stars. Tony Stewart and Ken Schrader, both business partners in PIR, will be competing in the Late Model division. A full program of Late Model, Modified, Crate Late Model, Street Stock, Warrior, and Vintage racing is on tap for Opening Night.
Defending Champions Kevin Cole, Justin Houston, Jeff Walston, Darrell Hartman, Jeffrey Bailey, and Jarrett Cathey will lead the Late Models, Modifieds, Crate Late Models, Street Stocks, Warriors, and Mini Sprints into battle as the curtain goes up on another season of high-bankin' dirt-trackin'.
All on-track action will take place in front of PIR's twenty unique new Luxury Suites. This year, selected PIR spectators and sponsors will enjoy one of the nation's premiere short track hospitality facilities.
A complete schedule is attached. Additional details on regular Friday night events will be released soon.
