CHATSWORTH, Ga. (March 3) - The 2008 racing season kicks off at North Georgia Speedway on Saturday March 8. The third mile high banked speed plant will open with the Southern All Star sanctioned Ernest Young Memorial paying $5,000 to the winner.

"We had a great turn out for last Saturday's practice and are looking forward to kicking off the season next Saturday," said promoter Monty Morrow. "I think everyone will be pleased with the changes that have been made and the racing we have scheduled for the year."

The cars and stars of the Southern All Star Series will be on hand to see what they can do with the local racing talent in the tri-state area. And the local hot shoes will be doing everything in their power to make sure the bulk of the purse, including the winner's $5,000, stays in the area.

"We don't like to advertise individual drivers coming to one of our events, because a lot of things change and we don't want to disappoint the fans if someone can't make it at the last minute," continued Morrow. "If you look at what and where other races are scheduled plus the fact that it is early in the season and everyone is ready to race you will see that there will be an excellent field of cars for the Ernest Young Memorial."

The Ernest Young Memorial will be supported with racing in all of North Georgia's regular divisions, Limited/Crate/Sportsman, Hobby, Mini Stock and Econo Bombers. Pit gates will open at 2 pm, grandstands at 3 pm with racing at 6 pm. Adults are $17 in the grandstands with kids 6-11 $3 and under six are free. Pit passes will be $30.
