Steve Hixson CHATSWORTH, Ga. (March 1) - Racecars took to slingin' the dirt for the first time in 2008 at the North Georgia Speedway in Dalton/Chatsworth Saturday afternoon. Practice wrapped up as many teams entered in preparation for the season opener next Saturday, March 8th, when the O'Reilly Southern All-Stars host the 3rd annual Ernest Young Memorial. Local dirt Super Late Model racer, expected to chase the 2008 Cleveland Speedway Driving School O'SAS Rookie of the Year title Derek Ellis of Chatsworth, GA was making laps as well Murphy, NC racer David Payne. Alabama's Bo Shirley, CAT-DADDY's 2007 crew chief Johnny Cloer Jr. and Blairsville, GA's Jonathon Davenport also made practice. Even Cleveland (TN) Speedway regular "SHORTY" Keith Frazier raced his red Rocket # 11 around the NGS clay Saturday afternoon, attempting to work the kinks out, from a long winter that began after the GOBBLER race, back in mid-November. The congeiled LLM/Crates racecars took to the track. The "B-MAN" Brian Jackson, Scott Jackson, Larry Higgins, former hobby racer Jamie Parker, hot-shoe Daryl Owenby, Doug Kilgore and others got some good seat time before practice concluded late in the afternoon.
