COLUMBUS, Miss. (February 27) - Less than ten days remains until the 7th Annual Brown Engineering Rebel Challenge gets underway at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi on March 7th-8th.

With a new edition of the 7th Annual Brown Engineering Rebel Challenge, comes a new and exciting format for Friday night's program. In years past a single feature event has been run on Friday night, but event organizer and Brown Engineering owner, Robert Brown, has decided to stir things up in 2008 and give more racers the opportunity to compete in a feature event. As a result, Friday night's format will be highlighted by twin $1,500 to win/$100 to start Super Late Model features with no entry fee. All Super Late Model entries on Friday night will be divided into two separate groups via the pill draw. The cars in each group will qualify against one another and compete for their starting position in their respective 25 lap feature events. Each feature event will start 26 cars, and the number of entries will determine how many cars lock into each feature via time trials as well as how many b-mains are run.

In regards to the new format, Brown comments, "I wanted to have a format where 52 different guys get to compete in a feature event and make some money on Friday night, and I thought that this would be a fun way to do it."

On Saturday night, the Super Late Model field will start fresh with a brand new show. Saturday night's 50 lap Super Late Model feature will boast $7,000 to win and $400 to start for a 24 car starting grid. Many of the top national, regional, and local drivers are expected to clash as they battle for the coveted Rebel Challenge title. Time trials, b-mains, and the 50 lap feature event will all be held for the Super Late Model division on Saturday night.

The 7th Annual Brown Engineering Rebel Challenge weekend will also see increased purses in several of the other Columbus Speedway divisions. The Open Wheel Modifieds will be battling for $2,000 to win. The Late Model Stock/Crate Late Model division will also be waging war for $2,000 to win, and the Street Stock division will compete for $1,000 to win. Qualifying races will be held for the Open Wheel Modifieds, Late Model Stock/Crate Late Models, and Street Stocks on Friday night with the b-mains and championship feature events on Saturday night.
