Bob Appleget CHATSWORTH, Ga. (February 25) - The Ernest Young Memorial will kick off the season at North Georgia's premier clay oval, North Georgia Speedway, on Saturday March 8. The Southern All Star sanctioned 50 lap event will pay $5,000 to the winner.
For the 2008 season North Georgia Speedway has been able to hold the line on the price for grandstand tickets for weekly racing. As it has been for a number of years adults are $12, kids 6-11 are $3 and under six are free. Due to an increase in insurance pit passes will be $22 this year. The pricing for special events will vary and will be announced for each event.
The Ernest Young Memorial will be supported with racing in all divisions including Limited/Crate/Sportsman, Hobby, Mini Stock and Econo Bombers. Pit gates will open at 2 pm, grandstands 3 pm with racing at 6 pm. Adults are $17 in the grandstands with kids 6-11 $3 and under six are free. Pit passes will be $30.
"After taking over mid-season last year this will be our first full season promoting North Georgia Speedway and with a lot of help from the fans and competitors we hope to make the season the best in the history of the speedway," said Monty Morrow. "We have a better understanding of what it takes to make the speedway work and we will continue to try and give the fans and competitors a fast running competitive evening of racing every Friday night."
The first activities at the track will be an open practice on Saturday March 1. The track will be open to cars of all divisions as well as cars that race at other tracks from 12 noon to 5 pm. There will be a $10 charge to enter the pits and the grandstands are free.
Located in Chatsworth, Ga. North Georgia Speedway is a third-mile clay featuring dirt track racing at it's best from March to October. The track address is 300 N. Georgia Rd. Chatsworth, Ga. 30705.
