Roby Helm TAMPA, Fla. (February 23) - Heavy rain on Saturday morning washed what was to be two shows on Saturday for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series at East Bay Raceway Park. Both the Saturday afternoon and Saturday night races have been cancelled and will not be made up. Wet weather plagued the entire scheduled three-race series over the past three days.
Thursday night's program was rained out, but it was made up on Friday night with Keith Nosbisch of Valrico, FL picking up the win in the 40-lap main event. The Thursday night rainout brought about the scheduled two races on Saturday. A 40-lap race was scheduled to run on Saturday afternoon, and the 50-lap finale was scheduled for Saturday night.
The 50-car field of NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS machines packed and sealed the 1/3-mile clay oval on Saturday morning, but just as hot laps were to begin, the rain arrived dumping a reported inch and a half of rain on the speedway. By 5 p.m., East Bay Raceway Park officials determined they could not get the track ready in time and complete the show by the Hillsborough County, FL 11 p.m. curfew.

The next event for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series will be a two-show at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL on March 21-22 highlighted by a 75-lap $5,000-to-win main event.
