TAMPA, Fla. (February 21) - A heavy afternoon rain shower postponed the 40-lap $2,500-to-win NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series race on Thursday night at East Bay Raceway Park. The first event of the three-race series with 51 cars entered has been rescheduled for Friday night, with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. and racing scheduled for 7 p.m.

The postponement of the Thursday night race has set up a double race schedule for Saturday, with the second 40-lap $2,500-to-win race running on Saturday afternoon, and the third race contested on Saturday night.

The second of the three races in the series will have the gates opening on Saturday at 10 a.m., and racing at 12 noon. At the completion of the Saturday afternoon show, the grandstand will be cleared, and the third event of the series, a 50-lap $3,000-to-win race will take place on Saturday night after the 1/3-mile clay oval is refurbished.

Each of the three events run on Friday and Saturday, which are Rounds Three, Four and Five of the 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series 24-race season, will be complete shows with time trials, heat races, and feature events.

The top ten qualifiers will be locked into the main event, and qualifiers 11th on back will compete in heat races to fill in main event starting spots 11 through 22. Starting positions 23 and 24 are NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Provisional starting spots reserved for the top 15 in last season's final point standings.

"Running two complete shows in one day is nothing new to East Bay Raceway Park, as they have done this twice before for national events, and had a good race track for both races," NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS President of Operations and Communications Roby Helm said. "EBRP Promoters Al Varnadore and Todd Hutto have a great staff working for them, and we're confident these two Saturday shows will run smoothly and efficiently."

Competitors are reminded that mufflers are required for their race cars at East Bay Raceway Park. East Bay Raceway Park is located five miles south of I-4 on U.S. Highway 41. For more information call 813-677-7223, or visit the East Bay Raceway Park web site at www.eastbayracewypark.com.
