Pre-season practice sessions for all divisions racing at PIR have been scheduled from 12 to 4 PM on these two Saturdays in March:
March 8 March 22
Pit admission for each practice session will be $15. For everyone entering the Pit Area under the age of 18, Minor Releases signed by a biological parent or court-appointed legal guardian will be required.
The Grandstands will be open each day. Admission is free. Concessions will be available.
All race teams are encouraged to use these two opportunities to prepare their cars for the busy 2008 racing season at PIR.
Earlier in March, Paducah International Raceway is presenting two pre-season racecar shows. Spectators and participants alike will have a chance to see PIR racers in full battle dress, ready for the 2008 season. First, on Saturday, March 1st from 12 to 4 PM at the Salvation Army's "Dirt Track Superstars" car show at the former Courtesy Autoplex, 3100 Irving Cobb Drive, Paducah. Then, on Sunday, March 2nd from 12 to 5 PM, PIR racecars will be on display at Traders Mall at exit 16 of I-24. Admission to both shows is free.
The 2008 racing season will officially begin Friday evening, March 28 with an appearance of NASCAR star Tony Stewart who will compete in the PIR Late Model division. A full program of Late Model, Modified, Crate Late Model, Street Stock, and Warrior racing is on tap for the Opening Night.
NASCAR Stars Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Ken Schrader, and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Paducah International Raceway in November of 2005. Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart joined the trio of Co-Owners as a partner in September of 2006. In 2008 the 3/8th mile high-banked oval will host several high profile events including three NASCAR Nights, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, the USA World 50, and the Tri-Track Challenge. Paducah International Raceway races every Friday night and is located off Interstate 24 at exit 11 in Paducah, Kentucky.
