James Essex CORONA, Calif. (February 6) - Officials of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series have announced that in 2008 the series will award over $2.9 million in cash and contingencies. The amount breaks the record set in 2007 by over 600,000 dollars, and is now the largest amount in history for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The schedule for the 2008 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series season includes 43 dates in 16 states at many of the premier racing facilities in the country, with 13 of these events being televised on SPEED.
Drivers on the 2008 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series tour will be racing for over $2 million dollars in purse money at the events alone, setting another milestone for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, as this is the first year reaching the $2 million dollar mark.
Another record on the tour this year is the number of events of $20,000 to win or more; in 2008 there will be 6 events on the tour in '08 over $20,000 each. For the first time ever, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will sanction the $47,000 to win Topless 100 at Batesville Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas on August 15th & 16th. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will also sanction, for the first time ever, the $50,000 to win North South 100 at King's Florence Speedway in Union, KY on August 8th & 9th. Another newcomer to the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series tour in 2008 will be the $20,000 to win race at Jackson Motor Speedway, in Jackson, Mississippi on September 12th & 13th. Capping off the 2008 Jasper Engines Road to Wheatland, will be the 2nd Annual SuperClean Diamond Nationals at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri on May 9th & 10th, where competitors will compete for $40,000 to win. Again on the tour in '08, will be the 29th Annual Jackson 100 at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana worth $20,000 to win on September 19th & 20th. Another return event in 2008 is the 40th Annual Hillbilly Hundred on August 31th with the winner taking home $40,000 at the famed Tyler County Speedway.
In 2008, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series points fund will be $240,000, with the Quarter Master "Rookie of the Year" Pocketing $10,000, and the second place finisher in the "Rookie of the Year" battle will receive $2500 this year. The DART Winternationals points fund at Golden Isles Speedway and East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL will pay out $30,000 in cash and contingencies during the 32nd Annual "DART Winternationals" held February 4th-9th. Back again in '08 for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is the winner's circle program which will pay the top ten in the points standings $600 per event they attend provided they maintain perfect attendance. The Jasper Engines Road to Wheatland will be in effect through the 2nd Annual SuperClean Diamond Nationals at Lucas Oil Speedway on May 9th & 10th which is set to reward "travel money" to ten additional drivers beyond the season-long top ten winners circle program as those drivers will be eligible for the $600 provided they maintain perfect attendance at the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series scheduled events leading up to the 2nd Annual Diamond Nationals.
Drivers running the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series also have a shot every event at the "K&N Clean Pass" award which is presented at each event will earn that driver $250 for that night's clean pass. The PRC "Fast Qualifier" award will be a $100 cash award to the driver that sets the fastest lap in time trials at every series event. Product certificates from Hawk Brake, AFCO Products, and Tiger Rear Ends will be up for grabs for heat race winners with Mason Racin' Rebel Shock Dyno and Quarter Master providing product certificates for B-main winners during the year.
PBM/Erson Cams is on board with the series this year with the "PBM/Erson Cams Hard Charger Award" which goes to the driver who advances the most positions during a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event this season. PBM/Erson Cams will award a $100 product certificate to the driver who accomplishes this feat and the driver that has the most hard charger points at the end of the season will receive $500 cash and a $500 product award courtesy of PBM/Erson Cams.
Allstar Performance is again sponsoring the "Allstar Performer of the Race." At each Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event this season Allstar Performance will award the Top Performer a $100 product certificate. The driver who earns the most "Allstar Performer of the Race" points will receive a $500 product award at the year end banquet.
Integra Shocks is the title sponsor of the Crew Chief of the Race Award and will offer $50 cash award at each race event. Integra Shocks will also be the title sponsor for the "Integra Crew Chief Challenge" at the 2nd Annual SuperClean Diamond Nationals, in conjunction with the ASI Racewear "Best Appearing" Team.
