Ben Shelton TRUMANN, Ark. (February 3) - Kyle Beard and Beard Motorsports entered their second event of 2008 over the weekend as the team traveled south to Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi for the 8th Annual Carl Hogan Honda Winter Classic.
Beard Motorsports had initially planned to head to Columbus Speedway on Friday afternoon to participate in the open practice session. However, tow truck problems forced the team to wait until Saturday to make the drive down. The team arrived less than an hour prior to the start of hot laps, and busily prepared Kyle's #86 GRT by Frye/Samuels Performance Engine Super Late Model for battle. However, their misfortunes weren't quite over as Kyle's car stalled as he pulled onto the track for hot laps. A quick look under the hood revealed that the fuel pump was not functioning correctly. Luckily the team was able to repair the fuel pump before Kyle went out to qualify.
Beard's best qualifying lap was a 15.70 second run around the 1/3 mile oval, which was good enough to lock him into the 8th starting position for the 40 lap feature event. Throughout the course of the 40 lap feature, Kyle battled in the top ten against some of the region's top drivers, and when the checkered flag fell, he was credited with a solid 10th place finish.
Kyle is uncertain of the team's next event, so make sure to check out www.KyleBeard86.com for all of the latest news and information regarding the team.
