Lucas Oil Speedway WHEATLAND, Mo. (January 31) - News and events happening around the Lucas Oil Speedway.
Initial TV Scheduled Released
The Lucas Oil Speedway has just released their initial 2008 TV schedule. This season the Diamond of Dirt Tracks will produce 14 racing and motor sports shows for National Broadcast on ESPN2, Speed Channel, and the Versus Network.
The coverage will begin with the May 9th and 10th Super Clean Diamond Nationals featuring the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Touring Series. Other confirmed dates and races during the 2008 season include: The Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Racing event on May 31 and June 1, the O'Reilly Late Model Challenge on June 20th and 21st, the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League on June 28th and 29th and the CMH Showdown on July 19th.
"It's always exciting to see our big shows on National television," said Kevin Greven, Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager. "But this season the networks have also expressed an interest in some good old fashion grass roots Modified racing and that is exactly what we are going to give them."
While in attendance last season at the Diamond Nationals, the television production company was exposed to our Pitt's Homes "A" Modified class as they ran in support of the event. They liked what they saw.
"Our Pitt's Homes "A" Mods put on an amazing show on a weekly basis," added Greven, "there performance along with the fact that the speedway is practically a television production studio on dirt, insures that you will see our Modifieds on National television in fall 2008 through Spring 2009."
One or maybe even two of the best Modified races during the SuperClean Diamond Nationals, the O'Reilly Late Model Challenge and or the CMH Showdown will be produced as a Lucas Oil Motor Sports Television event and re-broadcast on the Versus Network and or possibly Speed Channel.
"There are still two more races, yet to be named in which negotiations are nearly complete regarding broadcast," ended Greven. "Suffice to say, Lucas Oil Speedway is not only taking grass roots racing the next level, but to the Nation."
The exact broadcast schedule and networks for the 2008 Lucas Oil Speedway televised events is forth coming. For a look at the complete 2008 Lucas Oil Speedway schedule that is already being called the most aggressive in the Nation, go to www.LucasOilSpeedway.com.
2008 Spring Race School
When it comes to "schooling" someone on the track, both Rex Merritt and Scotty Allen are two of the best. But drivers, you would be much better off allowing them to "school" you in class first!
The Lucas Oil Speedway presents our 2008 Spring Race School, Saturday and Sunday March 22nd and 23rd. Rex and Scotty will spend two days sharing invaluable tips from car set up to driving styles and everything in between.
"You'll learn a lot, I guarantee it," said Rex Merritt, 2007 "A" Modified Class Champion at the Lucas Oil Speedway. "I can say that, because I still learn something myself every time I do a school."
The class starts at 9 a.m. on both days. Saturday is a class room day and Sunday is a track day, race cars are not provided. The two day class is only $150 with a Saturday only price of $125 and a Sunday only price of $50.
"It's an awesome price!" added Merritt. "The folks at the Lucas Oil Speedway have provided the class room and the track at no cost, so the savings is passed on to the racers."
The 2008 Spring Race School is for drivers of all levels and not just Modifieds. Racers from hobby stocks to Late Models will all take home valuable information to apply on the track this season.

2008 Kart Racing Facility for Lucas Oil Speedway
The Lucas Oil Speedway announces plans to build a Kart Racing Facility on site for the 2008 Race Season. The track, which shall be west of Speedway just behind the Midway and current "Slick Track" Go-Kart Facility, will be completed for an April 19th opening.
"It's about staying on top of racing trends," said Kevin Greven, Track General Manager. "Kart racing has exploded across the Nation in the past decade. This new facility will not only capitalize on that market but allow the Speedway to grow and develop the next generation of drivers."
The track will offer a "Money Class" comprised of both Outlaw 500 Sprint Karts and Flat Karts and a Trophy Class for Outlaw 250, F200, Gold, Blue and Black Plate Sprint Karts. The season will open April 19th and alternate race dates with the County Line Speedway located just south of Brighton, MO on Hwy.13.
"We are excited about the relationship with County Line Speedway," added Greven. "Our hope is to develop a special points fund for racers that participate at both tracks." More information regarding the relationship between the Lucas Oil Kart Track and County Line Speedway is forthcoming.
Spectator and non-racer admission (except on special race nights) will get fans into the Kart Track and will also allow access to the events going on the same night at the Diamond of Dirt Tracks. For the special races an upgrade will be available to Kart Track Spectators. For more information go to www.lucasoilspeedway.com, email randy@lucasoilspeedway.com or call (417) 282-5984.
