Ben Shelton VICKSBURG, Miss. (January 21) - Bub McCool is set to invade Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi in his #57j Trakstar/Barker Racing Engine Super Late Model this Saturday for the 8th Annual Carl Hogan Honda Winter Classic.
Bub has competed in one event so far in 2008, as he entered the 17th Annual Ice Bowl at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama a few weeks ago. He qualified 7th in his group, which earned him a 7th starting position in his heat race. McCool fell just short of transferring from his heat race by finishing 4th, but was able to transfer out of his consolation race on Sunday into the main event. Bub started 24th in the feature, and despite a one lane race track managed to finish 12th in Sunday afternoon's main event.
This weekend, McCool will return to familiar territory as he prepares to tackle the 1/3 mile, highbanks of Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi for the 8th Annual Carl Hogan Honda Winter Classic, which pays $3,000 to win.. Bub has enjoyed a great deal of success at Columbus in the past, and he will be looking to pick up his first win of 2008 this weekend. The weekend gets underway with an open practice on Friday, January 25th from 4pm to 8 pm. On Saturday, racing action gets underway at 2:00 pm.
