James Essex CORONA, Calif. (January 21) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is pleased to announce that DART Machinery has signed on as the title sponsor of the DART Winternationals for the third year in a row. The Lucas Oil Late Model Series will offer drivers a special points fund with over $30,000 in cash and product awards for racers that compete during the Super Bowl of Racing at Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, GA January 23-February 2nd and the Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL February 4-9th. This year's speedweeks points fund will also include drivers earning points at Golden Isles Speedway towards the overall Winternationals point champion that will be crowned on the final night of racing at East Bay Raceway Park on Saturday February 9th. Drivers competing at Golden Isles Speedway will earn points over the ten nights of competition and the driver earning the most points will be awarded $10,000 cash from Golden Isles Speedway. The final point's standings from Golden Isles Speedway will transfer as one event to the Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park and all six nights events at East Bay Raceway Park will count towards the DART Winternationals point's fund.
The DART Winternationals Points Fund is a combined effort of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and numerous manufactures and companies that support dirt late model racing. This points fund was established to reward drivers who attempt to qualify each night of the Winternationals and the events at Golden Isles Speedway. "We are pleased to have DART come on board again for the third year in a row to be the title sponsor of the DART Winternationals Points Fund. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is committed to bringing more opportunities for racers to earn extra money not only during speedweeks but all season long on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. With companies like DART partnering with our series we can provide these opportunities", stated Ritchie Lewis, series director.
In addition to the DART Winternationals points fund, Performance Rod and Custom (PRC) has signed on to be the title sponsor of the Strawberry Dash each night. The PRC Strawberry Dash is a 15-lap dash for drivers that have not transferred to the A-Main through the heat races or B-Mains each night. Because of PRC's sponsorship this year the winner of the PRC Strawberry Dash will transfer to the A-Main and start shotgun on the field for the feature each night.
