CLEVELAND, Tenn. (January 14) - In a ceremony held at Cleveland Country Club in Cleveland, Tennessee Officials from the O'Reilly Southern All Star Racing Series crowned Ivedent Lloyd as their 2007 National Champion. Stacy Holmes also officially was named as the 2007 OSAS Cleveland Speedway Driving School Rookie of the Year. Several special awards were also handed out during the evening. The 2007 Race Car Sponsor of the Year was awarded to Shorty Bearden of Bearden Oil Company. Bearden has been a staunch supporter of the Southern All Stars and also supports multiple dirt late model teams throughout the southeast.

Grady and Frankie Lloyd, who own Lloyd's car, were named the Car Owners of the Year in recognition of their National Championship run. Another award presented to the champion's camp was the 2007 Mechanix Wear Crew Chief of the Year. Lloyd's crew chief J.B. Harris was on hand to receive the award.Other awards presented included the PPM Racing Products Hard Charger Award as well as the Mechanix Wear Pit Crew of the Year. PPM's Rodney Hamby presented the Hard Charger Award Tyrone, Georgia's Jake Knowles. While the Mechanix WearPit Crew honors went to Mark Vineyard Motorsports and Crew Chief Buster Vineyard. Chassi s Manufacturer's title went to MasterSbilt Race Cars while Clements Race Engines picked up it fifth Engine Builder of the Year title in a row.

Later in the evening Jerry Inmon was inducted into the Southern All Star Hall of Fame. Inmon, who was unable to attend the event after having shoulder surgery on Thursday, was the 1984 Southern All Stars National Champion. Inmon had has award accepted by Southern All Stars Founder B.J. Parker. Inmon, known as the Mississippi Flyer, joins fellow Mississippian Don Hester, Parker and late Cleveland Speedway owner Joe Lee Johnson in the SASHOF. Finally the top ten point finishers were honored and the evening conc luded with Lloyd accepting his awards from O'Reilly Auto Parts' Jerry Robinette.

Several announcements were made as a part of the ceremonies. Series Director Kelley Carlton announced to the large crowd on hand that O'Reilly Auto Parts has signed an agreement to continue as the title sponsor through the 2010 season. Carlton also reiterated the earlier announcement of an additional $10,000 placed into the heart of the 2008 point fund. The crowd was also informed of a potential announcement this week regarding the 2008 Rookie of the Year point fund.

The O'Reilly Southern All Stars will kick off their 2008 campaign with a triple header at the Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, GA. The three events will be part of the Super Bowl of Racing IV and will all have a $10,000 winner's purse. The triple header will begin on Wednesday night January 30th and conclude on Friday night February 1st. Many of the top stars of dirt late model racing will be on hand for the events along with the OSAS touring drivers and local standouts.
