CLEVELAND, Tenn. (January 10) - The 2008 racing season will kick off for the North Georgia Speedway in Dalton/Chatsworth and the Cleveland (TN) Speedway as NASCAR rolls through the South on the same two weekends providing racefans a huge opportunity to see some great racing for two straight weeks. With NASCAR taking to the track in Atlanta, Saturday night, March 8th 2008, the track just North on I-75 (N. GA Speedway) will open up with their 3rd annual ERNEST YOUNG MEMORIAL, Super Late Model race, at the NASTY FAST clay banked 1/3 mile dirt track, located on the foothills of the Blue Ridge, GA mountains. Defending race champion Anthony White of Clinton, TN, as well as inaugural race winner Clint Smith of Senoia, GA are possible strong continders for a repeat $5,000., Southern All-Star sanctioned victory.
The following week as the CUP BOYS take towards the asphalt bull-ring in Bristol, TN, the Cleveland (TN) Speedway opens it's gates for the LUCK O' THE IRISH and the unlucky 13th edition of the SHAMROCK 60, on Saturday night, March 15th. Recent winners of the S.A.S. ST. PATTY's special race include, former back to back series champion Chris Madden of South Carolina, Tennessee superstar Scott Bloomquist, and local fan favorite Dale McDowell of Georgia. Between the two tracks over a hundred entries took to the dirt, vying for the top March SLM prize money last year. The full 'tentative' 2008 schedule has just been released for both (Cleveland & N. GA) tracks, offering race fans the opportunity to attend over 50 events this season, sharing many race weekends, for Friday and Saturday nights from March thru November. More information will be released at the first of the year on both tracks web-sites www.northgeorgiaspeedway.com and www.clevelandspeedway.com.
