BOEN SCORES $5,000 WESTERN ALL STARS WIN ON SATURDAY NIGHT AT MANZANITA SPEEDWAY

PHOENIX, Ariz. (November 10) - Kelly Boen drove to the checkers with a 6 car length advantage at Manzanita Speedway Saturday night November 11, 2007 to take home the $5,000 first place prize. Boen, the O"Reilly NCRA 2007 Champion, had a spectacular week, in addition to the Saturday win at Manzy, he also won the final SWDRA race in Tucson on November 3 and finished a strong 2nd on Thursday night at Manzanita.

Scott James and Mike Marlar led the 24 car starting field out for the start of the main that didn't start until 12:30 am. Marlar got the jump at the green over James with Chris Shannon, Kelly Boen and Ron Bartels close behind at the end of the first lap. Lap 3 brought out the first yellow for J J Yeley in a single car incident. After a good restart, A J Kirkpatrick and Kellen Chadwick got tangled up in turn three and hit the wall ending their racing night. The next restart never got out of turn four as several cars at the front of the field checked up causing a chain reaction that ended the night for the Arizona cars of Brad Williams and Mike Tahtinen.

The next Delaware restart was much better and Marlar tried to pull away from the field while James, Boen and Shannon put battled back and forth for 2nd through 4th positions. Mike Balcaen pulled into the pits in lap 7.

Rob Mayea had moved up to the 5th spot with Zack Forester, John Anderson, John Duty, Trevor Glaser and Mike Stadel making up the top 10 positions.

Karl Tipton brought out the yellow on Lap 10 by spinning out in turn 4. At the restart, J J Yeley spun out in turn 2 bringing out the yellow again. On the restart, Mike Stadel moved into the 8th position. From the back of the pack, Mike Johnson was moving up and was running in the 9th position.

John Anderson pulled into the pits at lap 18. With a string of green flag laps, the leaders were starting to contend with lapped traffic. James was leading but the traffic allowed Boen the opportunity to close on the leader. They were followed by Marlar, Shannon, Mayea, Glaser, Stadel, Johnson, Bartels and JJ Yeley.

Boen worked the low line lap after lap until he was able to make a pass on James for the lead on lap 22. Dean Moore spun on lap 26, bringing out the yellow. At the restart, Shannon makes contact with the rear of James, setting up another chain reaction crash on the front stretch with Yeley, Tipton, Johnson, and Mayea all suffering significant damage, ending their night. At the restart, it was Boen, Shannon, Glaser, Stadel, Bartles, Duty, Priddy, Napier, Jones and James restarting from the rear of the field. While running the high line, James jumped the cushion in turn 3 and was unsuccessful at moving the concrete wall. James retired with broken suspension on the right front.

Boen led the field for the last three laps with Shannon, Bartels, Stadel, Duty, Priddy, Jones and Napier completing the 30 lap main event.

The B mains were won by J J Yeley and Jeffrey Priddy.

Heat races were determined by pill draw with the winner and the three cars with the most passing point moving to the feature. Heats were won by Mike Marlar, Scott James, A J Kirkpatrick and Chris Shannon.

The Trophy Dash was fielded by the 4 fastest qualifiers from Thursday night and 4 drivers selected by promoters' option. The $1000.00 dash was won by Scott James.

The Sprint Car main was won by Jerry Coons Jr, from Tucson, AZ, taking the top prize of $12,000 in the Sprint Car Western World Championship. Jerry provided the fans with an exciting finish, starting last on the grid and then taking the lead three laps from the end.
