OSKALOOSA, Iowa (July 23) - Point leader Boone McLaughlin became the first repeat winner of the season in the Deery Brothers Summer Series, following the Wednesday night disqualification of Ray Guss Jr. in the IMCA J & J Steel Late Model tour feature at Southern Iowa Speedway.

Guss was also DQ'd from his Tuesday night win at Davenport Speedway. IMCA officials conducting post-race tech at Oskaloosa announced unapproved alterations had been made to a spec cylinder head in Guss's engine, resulting in the disqualifications.

Marty Diercks of Bettendorf was promoted to the $2,000 top spot at Davenport.

Hometown favorite T.J. Criss started on the pole and ran in front through the first 28 of 35 laps at Oskaloosa. What became a runner-up finish is his best showing in six feature appearances.

Wednesday's show was the first for the series at Oskaloosa since June 18 of 2003.

Ten races are in the record book and seven dates remain in the 19th annual tour, with another mid-week doubleheader slated next Wednesday, July 30 at Highway 3 Raceway in Allison and Thursday, July 31 at Algona Raceway.

Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. for the second show of the season at Allison, where Justin Reed was the May 21 feature winner. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m.

The series makes its first-ever visit to Algona the next night. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., the grandstand opens at 6 p.m., hot laps start at 6:30 p.m. and racing gets underway at 7 p.m.
