Jimmy Mars Nabs Two More Runner-Up Showings in Badger State

MENOMONIE, WISC (May 12) - Jimmy Mars, of Menomonie, Wisconsin, made a last minute decision to stick closer to home over the May 6-7 weekend and wound up entering weekly Late Model programs at Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie and Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond. On Friday night at his hometown Red Cedar Speedway, Jimmy ran third in heat race action prior to starting the $1,000 to win headliner from the outside of the fourth row. He was then able to track down six competitors during the course of the race and placed a strong runner-up behind only victor A.J. Diemel.

The dirt-slinging competition then switched to CLS on Saturday evening for a $1,200 to win weekly Late Model show. Jimmy won his heat race in preliminary action and later rolled off from the outside of the second row for the start of the A-Main. The popular driver known as the "Iceman" then disposed of a couple of racecars during the course of the main event on his way to another runner-up performance behind only race winner Jake Redetzke. This upcoming weekend (May 13-14), Jimmy plans to tackle a pair of events in Wisconsin and Minnesota. On Friday evening, Jimmy will make a return trip to Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wisconsin for another weekly Late Model showdown. The #28 team will then turn their focus to Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota on Saturday evening for a visit by the Lucas Oil MLRA Series. A $5,000 winner's check will be on the line Saturday in the Gopher State.
