Ray Cook Runner-Up in Crate Late Model Portion of Fall Classic at Ponderosa

BRASSTOWN, NC (October 15) - Ray Cook Racing invaded the legendary Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky on October 9-10 to enter both the Super Late Model and Crate Late Model portion of the annual 'Fall Classic.' In Crate action at "The Pond," Ray Cook won his heat race on Friday night and later started Saturday's $2,500 to win feature event from the inside of the second row. Ray then ran second virtually the entire 40-lap distance to finish a strong runner-up behind only victor Matt Henderson.

The Southern Nationals Bonus Series then presided over the Super Late Model special, which boasted a hefty $25,000 payday. Ray knocked down the ninth fastest lap during the qualifying session on Friday evening prior to grabbing the fourth and final transfer spot through his stacked heat race. The Brasstown, North Carolina star rolled off thirteenth on the grid in Saturday's 100-lap headliner, but a broken driveshaft on lap eleven dropped him to a disappointing twenty-second place showing. Full results from the 'Fall Classic' weekend can be accessed online at www.ponderosaspeedway.net.

The #53 team is slated to take the upcoming October 16-17 weekend off, as Ray will be busy overseeing the huge Monster Mash weekend at Tri-County Race Track, which features Monster Trucks, Demo Derby, and Tough Trucks. The popular driver known as the "Tarheel Tiger" is scheduled to sling dirt next on October 23-24 in the 21st Annual 'Coors Light Fall Classic' at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Mississippi. The Super Late Model special will be headlined by a $15,000 to win feature event, while each race starter will receive at least $1,000.
