Dennis Erb, Jr. Leads Thirteen Laps in Cotton Pickin' 100; Finishes Third

CARPENTERSVILLE, ILL (October 15) - Dennis Erb Racing made the long trip south to Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi on October 9-10 for the annual running of the 'Magnolia State Cotton Pickin 100.' The unsanctioned Super Late Model special once again paid $20,000 to the winner and drew a stout field of 66 competitors to "The Mag." On Friday night, Dennis Erb, Jr. started his weekend by posting the thirteenth fastest lap in Group B during qualifying and he later grabbed the third and final transfer spot through his stacked heat race.

When Saturday evening rolled around in the Deep South, Dennis started the 100-lap feature event from the outside of the seventh row. The Carpentersville, Illinois star then drove to the front of the talented field and led laps 63-75 until his car got tight in the dominant bottom groove. At the checkers, Dennis found himself on the podium in third behind only victor Morgan Bagley and runner-up Dale McDowell. Complete results from the 'Magnolia State Cotton Pickin 100' can be found online at www.magnoliadirt.com.

The #28 team has been busy in their race shop this week gearing up for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series finale, which will take place on October 16-17 at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio. The 35th edition of the 'Dirt Track World Championship' will be held at PRP this weekend and a whopping $100,000 first place prize is on the line. Double heat races will kick things off on the banks of the Ohio River on Friday night, while consolation events and the 100-lap DTWC headliner are scheduled for Saturday evening.

Dennis comes into the action-packed weekend seventh in the latest version of the LOLMDS point standings. Always a strong runner at Portsmouth Raceway Park, Dennis finished seventh in last year's 'Dirt Track World Championship.'
