Morgan Bagley Claims Career Win in Magnolia State 100by Ben Shelton
LONGVIEW, Texas (October 14) – Morgan Bagley claimed the biggest win of his career over the weekend by topping the annual Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 at Magnolia Motor Speedway in his P&W Sales #14m Black Diamond by Club 29/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.
On Friday night Morgan Bagley returned to action by making the trip to Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) for the two-day, Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100. Drawing a stacked field of sixty-six Super Late Models for the unsanctioned event, Bagley scored a runner-up finish to Billy Moyer Jr. in his heat race, giving him a starting spot for the main event on Saturday night.
Coming from 7th, Morgan took the lead on two separate occasions before ultimately holding off Dale McDowell’s late race charge to score his first victory of the 2015 season. Pocketing a $20,000 payday, Morgan Bagley was followed across the finish line b Dale McDowell, Dennis Erb Jr., Don O’Neal, and Billy Moyer Jr. in the 100-lap affair.
“This has been such a tough year that when he (Erb) passed me for the lead, I just started thinking that maybe I would never win one of these races,” said an emotional Bagley in victory lane. “But then I got up on the wheel and kept digging and was able to get back to the lead. This is a very special win for me and my team, and I just wish our team owner, Wayman McMillan was here to enjoy it with us.”
