Lucas Oil Late Models Have Georgia on Their Mind

LOLMDS PR
WAYCROSS, GA (September 29) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will return to the Peach State this weekend for an action-packed doubleheader. A band of the nation's elite dirt late model drivers will converge on two venues that have been pillars on the LOLMDS tour.

The activities will kick off on Saturday night, October 3rd with the Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA. In 2014, Chris Madden claimed his second consecutive Dixie Shootout over Dale McDowell, Don O'Neal, Steve Francis, and Jimmy Owens.

The renowned Lucas Oil Productions Studios will be on hand to capture all of the action from Dixie Speedway with multiple camera angles, driver interviews, on-board cameras, and various technical segments. The event will air on MAVTV Motorsports Network and NBC Sports Network at a later date, in 2015.

On Sunday night, October 4th the action will shift to Rome International Speedway in Rome, GA for the Lucas Oil Rome Showdown. Scott Bloomquist will return as the defending race winner - after claiming the victory in 2014 - ahead of Brandon Overton, Chris Madden, Rick Eckert, and Casey Roberts.

The stars of the LOLMDS will battle a talent-laden field of local and regional standouts. Both events will feature a complete program of: Miller Welders Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and a 50-lap, $10,000-to-win main event.

Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Georgia continues to lead two-time champion, Scott Bloomquist in a tight battle for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Championship. Three-time champion, Jimmy Owens is third, followed by four-time champion, Earl Pearson Jr. Defending champion, Don O'Neal completes the top five in series standings. Sixth through eleventh are: Brandon Sheppard, Dennis Erb Jr., Steve Francis, Jared Landers, Eddie Carrier Jr., and Chris Brown.
