Shane Clanton Tops Eriez Finale for $6k; Magnolia State 100 Next

ZEBULON, Georgia (September 29) –Shane Clanton powered his Weldbank Energy #25 Capital/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model to the $6,000 victory in the September Sweep finale at Eriez Speedway on Saturday evening.

On Friday night Shane Clanton made the trip to Eriez Speedway (Erie, Pennsylvania) for the opening round of the unsanctioned, September Sweep event. Paying $4,000 to the feature winner, Clanton was one of thirty-three Super Late Models signed in for the double-header weekend. Following a heat race win, Shane scored a 6th place finish in the feature event.

With thirty-two racers registered for battle on Saturday at Eriez Speedway, Shane earned the pole-position, starting spot for the Dick Litz Memorial via a heat race win. Leading all 40-laps, Clanton bagged his fifteenth win of the 2015 season. Scoring a $6,000 payday, Shane was followed across the finish line by Bump Hedman, Greg Oakes, Rob Blair, and Steve Kania in the Zimmer’s United Late Model Series sanctioned event.

“It was kind of a last minute to come to Eriez this weekend,” noted Clanton. “We originally planned to race closer to home, but the weather looked threatening so we decided to come up here to race close to the car owner, Ron Davies home. It definitely paid off.”

Clanton will not race anywhere this weekend before returning to action with the annual Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) on October 8th-10th. The event will be highlighted by a $20,000-to-win/$1,200-to-start finale.
