Jeep Van Wormer Starts Prepping for Fall Nationals Following Berlin Podium Effort

PINCONNING, MICH (September 24) - Following a rain-out at Waynesfield (OH) Raceway Park on Saturday, September 19, Jeep Van Wormer and his #55 team headed to Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan for the 'Down & Dirty Weekend' finale. The World of Outlaws Late Model Series once again presided over the festivities at the asphalt-turned-dirt track on Saturday and a $12,000 top prize was on the line. Jeep started off the evening by posting the fourth quickest lap in Group A during qualifying prior to scoring the victory in heat race action.

After drawing the fifth starting spot before the drop of the green flag in the 60-lap main event, the Pinconning, Michigan ace picked off a couple of competitors during the caution-free affair en route to a third place podium effort. At the checkers, Jeep trailed only race winner Rick Eckert and runner-up Darrell Lanigan. Full results from Berlin Raceway can be viewed by pointing your web browser to www.woolms.com.

"It is a lot of fun to race up front with that caliber of competition," exclaimed Van Wormer following the Berlin event. "It is no secret that we haven't raced as much this year, so to unload and be able to compete with Eckert, Lanigan, Clanton, and those guys and finish in the top three is really huge. It shows how hard we work at the shop and I can't thank everyone that works on our cars enough for their help and support!"

Jeep and his Iron Motorsports team will take the upcoming September 25-26 weekend off from racing action, but will be gearing up for the 'UMP DIRTcar Fall Nationals.' The famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio will once again place host to the single-day shootout for the Super Late Models on Saturday, October 3. A $5,000 winner's check will be up for grabs in the final Late Model race of the season at the "Big E."
