Todd Morrow Racing Designs Decals to Benefit Jeff Smith by Ben Shelton
CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (September 22) – Todd Morrow Racing is doing their part to help fellow racer, Jeff Smith in his time of need. The Dalton, Georgia racer suffered a fractured vertebrae in his neck after a flip at I-75 Motor Speedway (Sweetwater, Tennessee) in a Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series event on Friday, August 14th, 2015. He will be in a halo for three months as he continues to recover.
Smith is self-employed and racing helps pay the bills. To help alleviate the medical bills and the loss of income Todd Morrow Racing has designed decals that have been sold over the past few weeks and will continue to be sold at upcoming events.
“None of us want to think about getting hurt, but it’s always a possibility, when we climb into the driver’s seat,” said Morrow. “My heart goes out to Jeff along with his wife, Samantha, and his kids, Carli and Nick. As a result our team wanted to do something to lend a helping hand.”
Per the request of Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series director, Mike Vaughn, Morrow’s wife, Kathie designed a special decal that is being sold to raise money.
Per the request of William and Alexis Thomas the decals will next be available this weekend, September 24th-27th, at registration for the 37th Annual Alabama State Championships at East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Alabama). In addition Duck River Raceway Park (Wheel, Tennessee), race director, David Earl Gentry requested decals for this Saturday’s United Crate Racing Association (UCRA) event. They will be sold in the grandstands and the pits. A minimum donation of $5 is requested.
Several tracks and series have already collected money including I-75 Motor Speedway, Boyd’s Speedway, Duck River Raceway Park, East Alabama Motor Speedway, the NeSmith Late Model Series, and the United Crate Racing Alliance.
“The racing world is one big family, and this is the least we can do to lend a helping hand,” commented Todd Morrow. “I just hope that Jeff gets well soon and can rejoin us on the track. Until then we will do everything we can to help him and his family during this trying time.”
