Jimmy Mars Lands on Podium in Specials at Kankakee and Fairbury MENOMONIE, WISC (August 20) - Jimmy Mars and his #28 team invaded the Land of Lincoln on August 14-15 for a pair of American Late Model Series (ALMS) battles. On Friday night at Kankakee County Speedway in Kankakee, Illinois, a $3,000 top prize was on the line in the 'Land of Lincoln 40.' Jimmy ran fourth in heat race action at the fairgrounds bullring and later started the 40-lap headliner from the inside of the fourth row. The Menomonie, Wisconsin ace then earned Hard Charger honors in the feature, as he blasted up to third to finish on the podium behind only winner Brian Shirley and runner-up Ryan Unzicker.
At Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois on Saturday evening, the ALMS tour presided over the '#FALS Fan Frenzy,' which boasted a $10,000 payday. Jimmy won his heat race in preliminary competition and rolled off from the outside of the front row in the 50-lap main event. After officially leading lap one, Jimmy drove his #28 MB Customs mount to another third place performance behind only victor Kevin Weaver and runner-up Scott Schmitt. Following the pair of podium efforts, Mars Racing is scheduled to enjoy the upcoming August 21-22 weekend away from the racetrack. Jimmy is slated to return to dirt-slinging action on August 28-29 in a Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series doubleheader. The Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway in Oshkosh, Wisconsin will pay $7,000 to the winner next Friday night, while Saturday's show at Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wisconsin will feature a $3,000 windfall.
