Shane Clanton Scores Two More Wins; Billy Clanton Memorial Nextby Ben Shelton
ZEBULON, Georgia (June 30) – The past week found Shane Clanton charging to two more feature wins with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series (WoOLMS) in his Weldbank Energy #25 Capital/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model as he extended his advantage atop the series’ standings.
On Tuesday night Shane Clanton returned to the United States as he looked to complete the sweep of New York with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series (WoOLMS). Shane invaded Weedsport Speedway (Weedsport, New York) to compete in the Finger Lakes 40 against a field of thirty-one Super Late Models. Starting the night by setting a new track record in qualifying, Shane went on to win his heat race. After drawing the pole for the feature he led every lap of the feature event to register his ninth win of the season. Clanton ousted Tim McCreadie, Darrell Lanigan, Chase Junghans and Morgan Bagley to capture the $8,000 paycheck.
On Thursday Shane made the journey to Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pennsylvania) for the first night of the 9th Annual Firecracker 100, which was sanctioned by the WoOLMS. After scoring a heat race victory, Clanton led every lap of the $6,000 feature event. The 30-lap feature presented by GottaRace.com found Shane cruising to his seventh feature win of the season with the WoOLMS. Rick Eckert, Jared Miley, Darrell Lanigan, and Eric Wells completed the top five. The victory pushed his total win tally for the year to ten.
On Friday evening for night two of the Firecracker 100, Shane followed up his 5th fastest qualifying time in his group with a heat race win. Starting in the 7th position for the 30-lap feature event, Clanton worked his way through the field to record a 3rd place outing behind race winner, Chase Junghans, and Scott Bloomquist with Chub Frank and Davey Johnson finishing the top five.
Saturday’s 9th Annual Firecracker 100 finale was postponed to September 5th due to poor weather.
“Between the wins and track records, it was another great week for our team,” noted Clanton. “I’m equally proud of Chase (Junghans) for winning his first WoO feature there at Lernerville. Our Capital Race Cars just keep getting better, and I couldn’t be more excited about the future.”
Shane Clanton now leads the latest WoO standings by 184 markers over his closest pursuer. Full results and the latest series' standings are available at

This Saturday, July 4th the team will compete in a very special event that pays homage to Clanton’s father. The $4,025-to-win event is being tabbed the Billy Clanton Memorial, and will be sanctioned by Ray Cook’s Southern Nationals.
