Ray Cook Readies for Volunteer State Doubleheader this WeekendBRASSTOWN, NC (June 11) - Ray Cook Racing unloaded #53 machines in the states of North Carolina and Georgia over the June 5-6 weekend. On Friday night at the nearby Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, North Carolina, Ray Cook - who also promotes the 1/4-mile bullring - opted to tag the tail of the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series feature event. After rolling off from the outside of the tenth row in the $2,000 to win headliner, Ray bolted past eleven competitors en route to a solid ninth place performance.
At the historic Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia on Saturday evening, the 16th Annual 'Bill Ingram Memorial' was held and a $3,000 top prize was on the line. Ray clicked off the second fastest lap in Super Late Model qualifying at the Atlanta-area venue, which locked him into the outside of the front row for the start of the 40-lapper. After dropping back to fourth early in the distance and climbing back up to second, the Brasstown, North Carolina ace unfortunately suffered carburetor woes and was forced to retire from the 'Bill Ingram Memorial' in the twenty-second position. The #53 team will now turn their focus to a pair of high-profile events this upcoming weekend (June 12-13) in the Volunteer State of Tennessee. On Friday, the Ultimate Super Late Model Series will preside over a $4,000 to win shootout at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tennessee. The doubleheader weekend will then wrap up at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee on Saturday with the 3rd Annual 'Scott Sexton Memorial 52,' which will be sanctioned by the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) and will carry a $5,200 winner's check.
