Ray Cook Turns Focus to Promoting Over Memorial Day Weekend Following USA 100BRASSTOWN, NC (May 21) - Ray Cook and his #53 team pulled double-duty on Saturday evening, May 16 at the state-of-the-art Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, Virginia. The Ultimate Super Late Model Series sanctioned the annual running of the 'USA 100' and a $10,000 top prize was on the line. Ray posted the fifth quickest lap in his group during the qualifying session and later finished sixth in heat race action. After starting the 50-lap main event from the outside of the ninth row, Ray had moved forward past a few cars early in the distance before overheating woes sent him pitside with a twenty-first place performance.
In the Crate Late Model portion of the 'USA 100' program, Ray timed in third fastest in his group during Fastrak Racing Series qualifying. After a fourth place run in his heat race, the Brasstown, North Carolina ace steered his new Capital racecar to a fifth place effort in the $3,000 to win headliner. Ray trailed only winner Daniel Baggerly, Walker Arthur, Davis Lipscombe, and Tyler Bare at the checkers. Complete results from VMS can be accessed online at

The next couple races on the schedule for the #53 team are a $2,500 to win UCRA Series battle on Friday, May 29 at Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, Tennessee and a $4,000 to win Ultimate Super Late Model Series stop on Saturday, May 30 at Toccoa Raceway in Toccoa, Georgia.
