Carolina Clash Series returns to Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia on May 2, 2015 for Race #5 of 2015 Mark Huey - Carolina Clash PR SYLVANIA, GA (April 28) - The Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series will make its annual visit to Eastern Georgia this Saturday night, May 2, 2015, to the Screven Motorsports Complex in Sylvania, Georgia. This will be the fifth event of the 2015 season and the third all-time Carolina Clash race held at Screven since 2010. Veteran NC driver Doug Sanders is riding on "Cloud 42" fresh off his great finish last Saturday night at Bulls Gap, TN, where he took command of the Carolina Clash points lead. He will be ready to tackle the Screven Motor Speedway Saturday night to challenge the stars of Georgia, Alabama & Florida, along with the new faces and seasoned veterans of the Carolina Clash Super Late Model series. Doug Sanders, who won many races at the historic Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, NC throughout the 1980s and 1990s, said that Screven reminded him of the old Carolina Speedway, except wider. So, Doug Sanders knows how to get around layouts such as Screven and he is ready.
During the first two events of the 2015 season, four different drivers have claimed Carolina Clash checkers. Ben Watkins of Rock Hill, SC entered Volunteer's Spring Thaw event as the point leader and left Tennessee trailing by only two points to Sanders. In only two trips to Screven in late model action, Watkins has a win and a second-place finish at the Southeast Georgia oval. Watkins and Sanders will join many other regional hot-shoes from Georgia to run for the $4000 to win prize. Kevin Wilson of Stoneville, NC and Tim Allen of Kannapolis, NC are also Carolina Clash point contenders who might make a rumble in Georgia, along with Carolina drivers Scott Shirey of Swansea, SC and Ritchie Corley of Leeville, SC will be in action. Shirey, who runs the #10 Shirey Towing and Earl's Performax Automotive machine of West Columbia, SC, is fourth in points. Tim Allen of Kannapolis, NC will bring his #17 Franklin Signs machine to join the action. Anthony Sanders of Spartanburg, SC, aka "Big A", who is famous for his excellence in artistic skills in decals and design graphics in motorsports is also expected to attend. Joey Coulter of North Carolina and current NASCAR Camping World Truck contender is also expected to attend. He ran his first laps ever at Screven during Winter Freeze and sat on the front row. Zack Mitchell, "Kid Quick", of Enoree, SC will also be on hand at Screven. Josh Langley of Lancaster, SC is another Renegade Race Fuels Rookie of the Year contender and is expected to bring his #7 Longhorn chassis to Screven to make up in his Rookie of the Year contention. These Carolina Clash regulars will be met with stiff competition by the stars of Georgia, Alabama & Florida, Casey Barrow, Chesley Dixon, and more. Also on tap is a big Super Street event for $1000 to win, along with Road Warriors, Pure Stock V8, Renegade Fours & Mini Stocks.
