Garrett Alberson Has Strong Debut in Childress Rideby Ben Shelton
SHREVEPORT, Louisiana (March 31) – After watching rain out after nerve-racking rain out, Garrett Alberson was finally able to begin the next chapter of his racing career on Saturday night as he made his debut in the Childress Racing #F5 Black Diamond by Club 29/Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model.
Alberson piloted the potent ride in the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) opener at Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi), where he came away with an impressive podium finish.
The $2,000-to-win event drew a stout field of thirty Super Late Models to the 1/3 mile oval, and Alberson locked into the ninth starting spot for the 40-lap finale via preliminary action. Garrett ran as high as second at times in the feature, at one point challenging for the lead, before settling to a third place finish behind race winner, Hunter Rasdon, and Neil Baggett. Bub McCool and Chris Wall rounded out the top five finishers.
“The car was really good early in the race, and I thought I had something for the leader (Rasdon), but as the race went along our car began to fade a little,” said Alberson. “To get a top three finish out of the box is great though. I just can’t thank Mr. Childress enough for this opportunity. It’s truly a dream come true.”

The team is slated to remain idle this weekend before returning to action on April 11th with a $12,000-to-win event with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi). For more information on the event, please visit
