Ray Cook Eyes Cotton Pickin 100 After Posting Top Ten at Rome

BRASSTOWN, NC (October 9) - Ray Cook Racing rolled into the Peach State on October 4-5 for a pair of $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series tilts.  On Saturday night at the historic Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia, Ray Cook ran sixth in his loaded heat race prior to grabbing the third and final transfer spot through his B-Main.  After starting from the outside of the eleventh row in the 50-lap 'Dixie Shootout,' Ray improved eight positions during the course of the headliner on his way to a fourteenth place effort.

The doubleheader weekend for the #53 team then wrapped up on Sunday evening at the ultra-fast Rome Speedway in Rome, Georgia, as another $10,000 top prize was on the line in the annual running of the 'Rome Showdown.'  Ray knocked down the fifth quickest lap in Group B during qualifying and later finished third in his heat race.  The Brasstown, North Carolina ace then worked his way past three competitors during the 50-lapper en route to a solid seventh place showing.  Complete results from both Georgia tracks can be found online at www.lucasdirt.com.

Next up for the #53 team will be a trip to Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi on October 10-11 for the 'Magnolia State Cotton Pickin' 100.'  The two-day mega-event will start on Friday evening with qualifying and heat race action.  The consolation races and the 100-lap feature event are then slated to headline the competition at the 3/8-mile oval on Saturday night.  The winner of the 'Magnolia State Cotton Pickin' 100' will receive $20,000 for their efforts, while each starter will claim at least $1,200.  Additional information on the unsanctioned event in the Magnolia State can be obtained by pointing your web browser to www.magnoliadirt.com.
