Kyle Beard Surges to CCSDS Win at the Ridge

by Ben Shelton
TRUMANN, Arkansas (September 8) –  Kyle Beard enjoyed an exceptional outing on Friday night at Crowley's Ridge Speedway (Paragould, Arkansas) as he advanced thirteen spots to claim the victory in the $3,000-to-win main event with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) in his Upton Motorsports #86 Gary Beard Trucking/Bob Pierce/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model.

The tour's Labor Day weekend doubleheader was washed out, pushing Friday's event at Crowley's Ridge Speedway back one week. A stout field of thirty-one CCSDS Super Late Models registered for competition, and via preliminary action Kyle earned the fourteenth starting spot on the feature grid. When the race finally went green following several cautions in the opening laps, Beard progressively worked his way through the field. As the race approached its closing laps, Beard joined Dane Dacus and Jack Sullivan in a three-way battle for the top spot. Sullivan assumed the point on lap 38, only to see Beard use the low line to take control one circuit later. As the leaders exited turn two on the white flag lap the lead trio went three wide. Beard won the drag race down the backstretch and took the checkered flag first ahead of Dacus, Sullivan, Tommy Surrett, and Chandler Petty.  The triumph marked his fourth of 2014.

"That's the most fun I've had in a long time," commented Beard. "We had a great car in the feature, and I have to thank my team for their hard work."

Kyle extended his points lead with the victory, and carries a comfortable margin into the tour's season finale at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) on September 27th. Full results from the events and the latest series standings are available at www.COMPDirt.com .

Beard is tentatively scheduled to enter the annual Larry Phillips Memorial this Saturday at Springfield Raceway (Springfield, Missouri). For more information on the $3,000-to-win, Mid America Racing Series (MARS) Super Late Model event please visit www.MARSRacingSeries.com .
